- He lived in Bristol, Swansea, and after 1710 in Taunton where he bought
the house and land of John Rogers, formerly the residence of Robert
Thornton. he was at one time a Deputy Sheriff at Taunton. He served as a
representative to the General Court, from Swansea, in June 1706. His
will, dated February 22, 1726, proved May 25, 1728, mentions all children
including his daughters by their married names, as well as their husbands'
names. Also mentioned is his wife Mary (Taunton probate records).
John and Mary (Throop) Barney had ten children, the first seven born at
Bristol, R.I. and the others at Swansea, Mass.
