of Josiah and Elizabeth (Waldo) Brackett; but that seems to be in error.
The marriage record (at Rehoboth, Mass.) clearly shows her name as
Elizabeth Barrett

GBFA p.12: Israel Barney witnessed the will of Samuel Park, dated Jun 11,
1705; gives his residence as Rehoboth. Israel Barney of Newport deeded 80
acres in Rehoboth on March 27, 1711 (Bk. 6, p.399). Deed recorded to
Israel Barney of Newport, 1712. Israel Barney, Mariner, and wife Eliz. of
Newport, sell to Joseph Barney of Rehoboth, March 27, 1712, land in
Rehoboth westwardly of the Palmer River. No death or administration
found.
Israel and Elizabeth had three sons recorded in Rehoboth; probably had
other children.
They removed to Rehoboth, Mass in 1704 and to Newport after 1719/1720. He
was a Selectman in Rehoboth in 1719/1720.
The following Barneys joined the First Sabbatarian Church (7th Day
Baptists), Newport, R.I.: Elizabeth Barney, July 25, 1708 Israel Barney,
July 25, 1708 (July 21, 1708 shows an Israel Barney on church roll of
Hopkingon, R.I. 1st Sabbatarian Church). Constant Barney, Oct. 8, 1721
Joseph Barney, baptized June 17, 1721 Samuel Barney, Aug. 9, 1745 John
Barney, son of Israel, b. July 11, 1735, Newport; "recorded" Dec. 9, 1734
