Mrs. Hilda Stafford Brickel passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2005, at Tendercare Saginaw. Age 97 years. Hilda Stafford was born August 26, 1907 in Bridgeport Township, the daughter of the late Walter and Alma Phelps Stafford. She attended elementary school in Bridgeport Township and graduated from Flint Central High School. She received a Bachelor's Degree in 1952 and her Master's Degree in 1954, both from Central Michigan University. Hilda Brickel was employed by the Buena Vista Township Schools for 25 years. She served as teacher at Star School and as principal at Ricker Elementary School and Henry Doeer School, retiring in 1973. As a parent and as a teacher, she was active in the Michigan Parent Teacher Association, having served as Michigan District President and in many local offices. She was a member of the MAESP (Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel). She married Charles Brickel in Saginaw in 1926, making their home in Saginaw and Buena Vista Township. He predeceased her January 28, 1948.
She is survived by two sons and daughter-in law, Jack W. (Mary Lou) Brickel, Richmond, Mich., Richard S. (Kathleen) Brickel, Saginaw; a daughter-in-law, Lucy Brickel, Saginaw;....a son Bob. E. Brickel, two brothers, Ives and Jay Stafford; and a sister, Catherine S. Nelson predeceased her....
