Charles Watson of Saginaw passed away Friday evening at Heritage Nursing Home, October 23, 1970, after a short illness. Age 99 years. He was born April 22, 1871, in Lincolnshire, England, coming to Canada at the age of four years and to the United States in 1876, to Vernon, Michigan. He was married to Nora E. Stafford December 9, 1896, there. She passed away December 19, 1961. They moved to Chesaning in 1896 where he was engaged in farming. They moved to Shields in 1911 where he farmed until his retirement in 1939. He moved to Saginaw that year. He was a member of the West Michigan Avenue United Methodist Church, the Grange, the Gleaners, and also to the Masonic Lodge for many years and was a life member of the Historical Society.
Surviving are two sons and four daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Sperry, Owosso; Mrs. Fred (Hazel) Metzler, St. Petersburg, Fla.; Mrs Fayne (Clova) Hodgman, Clio; LaVern Watson, Traverse City; Mrs. Maynard (Arlene) Wolkensdorfer and Cleo Watson, both of Saginaw....one sister, Mrs. Mae Jenkins, Owossoo......
