  Birth: unknown Death: unknown Civil War Union Brevet Brigadier General. Originally commissioned a Captian in the Illinois Volunteers in August 1862, when his unit united with the Army of the Potomac, Washington D.C., he was promoted Major in the 1st Ohio Infantry. With the 1st Ohio, he was in operations in Tennessee from December 1862 to January 1863. During the Chattanooga Campaign he served with the 6th Ohio Infantry until joining General Thomas in Nashville, promoted Colonel in command of the newly organized 178th Ohio Regiment Infantry in October 1864. He led the 178th in actions at the Siege of Murfreesboro, Cedars, Wilkinson's Pike, Tennessee and Campaign of the Carolinas February - April 1865. For distinguished service, he was brevetted Brigadier General of U.S. Volunteers on March 13, 1865. After the surrender of General Johnson’s Confederate Army April 26, 1865, he performed occupation duty at Raleigh and Charlotte, North Carolina until the regiment was relieved on June 29, 1865.
