JOSEPH THOMAS STAFFORD, son of B. L. and Clara Evans Stafford, was born December 31, 1880 near Buffalo. He departed this life April 20, 1966 after suffering a stroke in January. He was 85 years, 3 months, and 19 days old.
On July 29, 1903, he was united in marriage with Nellie Keith. This union was blessed with 5 daughters and 3 sons. His companion preceded him in death, December 11, 1950.
Mr. Stafford is survived by five daughters: Mrs. Edna Durington, Buffalo, Mrs. Pansey Miller, Springfield, Mrs. Enith Dixon, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Mrs. Bethel Connelly, Raytown, MO.; three sons: Paul, Fair Grove, Mo., Kenneth, Buffalo and Clint of Granby, Mo.; one half-brother, Harvey Stafford, Houston, Texas ; two half-sisters: Mrs. Sadie Dugan, Windyville, and Mrs. Nell Reynolds, Pine Bluff, Ark.; 2 step brothers; Easton Ford and Marion Evans, of Buffalo; 22 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and many relatives and friends.
He was converted and baptized early in life.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 22, 1966 at 2:00 p. m. in the Montgomery Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Phillip Bashaw officiating, assisted by Bill McGuire. Vernon and JoAnn Vieta sang: "Precious Memories", "Death Is Only A Dream" and "Face To Face," accompanied by Mrs. Thelma Montgomery.
Escorts were: Bill Durington, Bob Durington, Victor Durrington, Carl Stafford, Richard Stafford and Terry Weldon. Interment was in Riverview Cemetery under the direction of the Montgomery Funeral Home of Buffalo.
