- Edith Stafford Strong, 70, resident of DeSoto, widow of Jess Strong, died late Saturday evening at Ball Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. She was born in Delaware County, the daughter of Roy J. and Ethel (Smith) Stafford, and spent her entire life in this community. She attended Eaton School and graduated from Royerton High School.
Mrs. Strong was formerly employed at Hart Insurance Company, Indiana Bell Telephone Company, and Kuhner Packing Company. She was a member of DeSoto United Methodist Church and Mystery Daughters of the church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Merrill (Bonnie) Richey, Windwood Addition; a daughter-in-law, Mrs, Ray (Joan) Coffman, Yorktown; two sisters, Mrs. Henry (Mary) Robbins, Toledo, and Mrs. Herbert (Sarah) Arnold, RR1, Albany; three brothers, George Stafford, Eaton, Howard Stafford, Muncie, and Robert Stafford, Winwood Addition; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Her son, James L. Strong, died in 1965.
Services will be held at DeSoto United Methodist Church 10 a.m. Tuesday with Rev. Harold Frederick, pastor, in charge. Interment will follow in Gardens of Memory. Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary from 2 until 5 and from 7 until 9 p.m. Monday or at the church a half hour before the services.
