Mrs. Ruby Stafford McDowell, 74, 309 Queen St., widow of R. G. (Guy) McDowell, mother of Dr. Fletcher McDowell, died at Ball Memorial Hospital Wednesday afternoon following a brief illness. She was born in Niles Township, the daughter of Robert and Jennie Hunt Stafford, and spent her entire life in this community. She taught in the Delaware County schools for several years prior to her marriage.

Mrs. McDowell was a member of Riverside EUB Church.
Surviving besides her son are three grandchildren, and five brothers, Elbert, Virgil, and Edgar Stafford, all of Hartford City, John Stafford, Dunkirk, and Milo Stafford, RR 1 Eaton.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Meeks Mortuary with Rev. David Hancock officiating. Burial will be in Black Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary after 6:30 p.m. Thursday and prior to services Friday.
