  R.G. (Guy) McDowell, 309 Queen St., died late Friday morning at the Woodland Nursing Home following an extended illness. He was born in Boone County and moved to Muncie in 1898 with his parents, M.F. and Carey Patterson McDowelll. He was engaged in the furniture and stove retail business for many years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Muncie Masonic Lodge. Survivors besides his wife, Ruby (Stafford) McDowell, are a son, Dr. Fletcher McDowell, and three grandchildren, Jane, Bob and Don McDowell, all of Muncie. Funeral services will be conducted at Meeks Mortuary at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Rev. C. David Hancock, pastor of the Riverside EUB Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Black Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and before services Sunday.
