Victor Herald, May 19, 1905, page 3
The death of Mrs. Emmeline S. Simpson occurred at the home of her son, Sylvester H. Simpson, on Covill street, where she had resided for many years, on Sunday, May 14th. Mrs. Simpson was one of the oldest residents of the village. She had been in feeble health for some time and was confined to her bed for fourteen weeks previous to her death, which was caused by the exhaustion of old age. Mrs. Simpson was the daughter of Samuel and Nancy Stafford, and was born at Saratoga Springs eighty-seven years ago. The family resided there until the daughter was about seven years of age when they moved to the town of Bloomfield, where they remained only for a short time. They then came to the town of Victor, where for nearly eighty years Mrs. Simpson had resided. Her husband, Alexander Simpson, died here fourteen years ago. They were the parents of five children, three of whom survive: Mrs. James Booth and Sylvester H. of this town, and Frank, who resides in Michigan. One daughter died in childhood, and a son, Charles, went West and crossed the plains in 1849, and died in California about three years ago. One brother, George Stafford, is the only surviving member of the family and lives in Michigan. Funeral services were held at the Simpson home on Tuesday afternoon at three o'clock. Rev. Margaret A. Brennen, pastor of the Universalist church, officiated. Interment was made in the Boughton Hill cemetery.
