Notes |
(Alfred) Phelps Crum was named for his maternal grandfather, Alfred Phelps, Jr., a commander in the Naval fleet of the Union Army.
His wife was Alice Maud.
Phelps graduated from Harvard in 1913 and from Western Reserve Law College in Cleveland in 1909. He practiced law in Cleveland and later in San Antonio, Texas. He was in Kansas City, Missouri, seeking treatment for a tumor and heart disease, and died within 6 weeks. He was buried in Oklahoma with his family.

---------------
I have reason to believe that Phelps Crum was married to Alice Frances Jones (Find A Grave Memorial# 25690878).
I found a death certificate for their prematurely born infant son in San Antonio, Texas. It lists the parents as Phelps Crum (born Cleveland, Ohio) and Alice LaFrance Jones (born Clinton, MO).
She was the daughter of Lemon Cann Jones and Lillian Spicer Jones of Clinton, MO. In Lemon Jones's obituary (1929), it lists daughter Alice Crum. She is also listed as a widow in the 1930 census in San Antonio. She was remarried to Dr. Harry McCrindell Johnson.
