  Andrew and Mary Stafford Compton apparently lived in Coshocton County, Ohio,until about 1838, when they moved to Whitley County, Indiana, where they are found in the 1850 & 1860 census, Ohio Township. Andrew is certainly related to Martha Matilda Compton, who married Francis Asbury Jr. Stafford, but they are not brother and sister. It is likely that most of the Ohio and Indiana Comptons are related. They homesteaded in township 31N, Range 8E, 20 Mar 1837,Whitley County, Indiana; doc 7637; Acsession # IN1570.013 Interestingly enough, there was a Compton Stafford in Logan County, West Virginia.
