Notes |
- Alias: Theodore M. /Brace/
Theodore was still living at home in 1882, but before 1919 he moved to St. Louis and was engaged in the wholesale clothing business. He died there in 1918. This was the outline of his life as taken from the biographies of his brothers William and Charles in various histories of Allegany County, Maryland.
BIRTH
At one time, I had estimated his birth about 1865, before I found the family in the 1870 census for Allegany County, Maryland, which shows him as "B
aby" Brace, 2 months old, indicating a birth in March or April 1870. An 1
870 birthdate is consistent with the information given in the census for 1
880, & 1910.
RESIDENCE
In 1882, Theodore was still living at home with his mother in Cumberland, Maryland, but by 1890 the ywere living at 1410 Market Street in St. Lou
is, Missouri, and he was working as a clerk for MIlls and Averill.
MARRIAGE
The 1910 census shows that he married his wife Marie 3 years previously, indicating they married in 1907. Birth records for their son Clifford show that her maiden name was Westerhold.
OCCUPATION
In 1890, he was a clerk; in 1910, he was still a clerk in a clothing store in St. Louis; his brother Charles' biography states that he was involved in the wholesale clothing business when he died in 1918.
DEATH
The biography of his brother Charles, dated 1919, records that Theodore died in 1918 in St. Louis. Death records for St. Louis County show that he died 08 Oct 1918, in Central Township.
AKA
The 1910 census shows him as Edw. T. Brace, born 1870 in MO, wife Marie M. A posting at the Brace genforum by Lance Brace states that he was known as Edward Theodore or Theodore M. Brace, 1870-1918, and that his wife was Margarethe Wilhelmina Marie Westerhold. It would appear that Theodore, Edw. T., Edward Theodore, and Theodore M. Brace all refer to the same individual.
