- Harrison Stafford enlisted with the Confederates in Logan Co, WV on 5/1/63. In the 1900 Wyoming Co, WV census, he lived with his family in Baileysville Dist.
Was separated from his wife Mary Jane not long before 1880. His wife and family are living close to his father and next door to his brother Hiram in Logan Co, WV, Hardee District. Their 5-year-old son and older children were listed as born in Kentucky, and their 2-year-old son was listed as born in West Virginia. It seems they moved to Logan County, West Virginia after 1875.
1880 Logan Co, WV, Hardee Dist, pg 253D:

Mary Jane was listed as widowed, but in reality she was separated or divorced.
Harrison's brother Hiram is living next door to Mary Jane and the children, and Harrison's father Cumpton is living a few houses away.

Marriage Records of Wyoming Co, WV, Vol 5, No 106, Haga, page 60: "Harrison Stafford, age 55, born in Pike Co, KY, son of Compton and Ellen Stafford, married Margaret Morgan, age 24, daughter of John Morgan, on 24 Mar 1896."
1900 Census, Wyoming Co, WV, Baileysville Dist, #117: Harrison Stafford, age 57, born in 1842.
1910 Census, Wyoming Co, WV, Baileysville Dist, taken 23 Apr 1910, pg 189B, #123:
Listed as Harry Stafford, age 65, born in KY, married TWICE, last time for 13 yrs, farmer.
Wife Margaret Stafford, age 38, born in WV, married for 13 yrs, 8 children, all living.
This is probably inaccurate. From Harlandor, Hazard or Blackberry KY. Had 55 children. Married 6 or 7 times. Settled in West Virginia in Fanrock on a mountain they call Indian Creek. Margret Morgan was his last wife.
Here's more information about Harrison Stafford, son of Cumpton Stafford, who was the son of John and Nancy Runyon Stafford. Remember him? Here's your message I copied from the GenForum message board:

On GenForum Stafford family forum, Dec. 2002, information that was sent to Mike Stafford:
"Harrison 'Harry' Stafford. From Harlandor or Hazard KY. Had 55 children. Married 6 or 7 times. Settled in West Virginia in Fanrock on a mountain they call Indian Creek. Margaret Morgan was his last wife. Harrison 'Harry' Stafford and Margaret Morgan had the following children: Judy Stafford, Ott Stafford, John Stafford, Okey Stafford, Ause Stafford, Julian Stafford, and Rodney Staton Stafford, who married Margaret Aliff. I found Harrison and his last wife Margaret in the 1910 Wyoming County, WV census. The 1910 census had columns showing how many times a person had been married and how many years they'd been in their current marriage. It says that Harrison had been married TWICE, the last time for 14 years. It appears that part of the message about Harrison Stafford is incorrect - "Had 55 children. Married 6 or 7 times." There is some time between
marriages that Harrison hasn't been accounted for, but really, it wouldn't be possible. I've found 17 children.
One other part - "From Harlandor or Hazard KY" - may be right (I don't know where he lived right before he married his last wife), but he originally was from Pike County, Kentucky, and lived there with his first wife and children.
The last part of that message is probably great. You know, I've had other people give me information that was good for the recent generations, but all mixed up or downright wrong for the earlier generations. Some of the stories (like this one) are pretty entertaining.
I'll attach a file with the info I have on Harrison's family. There's still much to be discovered (isn't there always), but the message you passed on made me curious about him.
I wasn't quite sure what to do with the information (in regards to the GenForum message board) besides pass it on to you.
I wonder if Harrison would think all this is pretty funny?
