Retired Pastor Dies
New Philadelphia—Oct 23
Rev. Daniel N. Stafford, 76 of Springfield, a retired Methodist minister, died here today at the home of his Son I S. Stafford, a local attorney. The Rev. and Mrs. Stafford had been visiting here for some time.
Rev. Daniel N. Stafford, 76, Springfield, Ohio, retired M.E. Minister, and father of Homer I.N. Stafford, local Attorney, died unexpectedly at his son's home at 7:45 a.m. Monday, following an attack of angina pectoris, an acute affection of the heart.
His college mate and life long friend, Dr. J.M. Smith, was summoned but did not arrive until Rev. Stafford had passed away. He is survived by the widow Mr. Mary Z. Stafford and three children and one sister. He was a native of Rexford, a son of Jonathan Stafford, early settler. He was a graduate of Scio college in 1872. He also was a graduate of another college. He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Divinity and the college degree of Doctor of Philosophy. He enter the Pittsburgh conference of the M.E. church. Later he was transferred to the New Jersey conference of the same church and titled such important pulpits during his career as Ripley Memorial church, Buffalo, N. Y., New Brunswick, Millville and St. Paul's church at Trenton, New Jersey. He retired from the active ranks of the ministry five years ago. He was a member of the Masonic fraternity.
