Son of the late Rev. E. A. Stafford, D.D., LL.D., who was of New England parentage, and a direct descendant of Thomas Stafford, one of the colonists who settled at Newport, R.I. in 1638, and of Elizabeth, daughter of the late Rev. Thomas Hurlburt (U.E.L. descent). He was born near Sarnia, Ontario on June 30, 1865, educated at Montreal High School, McGill and Toronto Universities (M.D., 1889; M.B. 1893). He married in 1886, Helen, eldest daughter of the late Rev. W.H. Withrow, D.D. Since 1889 in successful practice.
