Possible will.
Will of John Stafford b/Unk d/1809
In the name of God, Amen. I, John Stafford of the County of Pasquotank and State of North Carolina farmer being sickly and weakly in body, but of sound mind and memory thanks be to God for the same, do this the Twenty-fifth day of November, in the year of Our Lord, One Thousand Eight Hundred and Eight, make consecrate and publish this my last will and testament in manner as followeth:
I give and bequeath to my loving wife, Mirriam Stafford, one red chest and all that is in it, and one feather bed and furniture, and one mare, and the household goods (for) her natural life or her widow hood.
And after paying my just debts and funeral expenses, I give all the remainder of my Estate to be equally divided between my children.
I nominate and appoint my wife my hole and sole Executrix to this my last will and testament. In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written. Signed, sealed and delivered in the presents of us.

The last will and testament of John Stafford, deceased, was exhibited and proved by the oath of Hezekiah Cartwright, one of the subscribing witnesses thereto the Executrix thereon named refusing to qualify orders that Isaac Overman have Administration with the will annulled? of the said John Stafford, deceased, who appeared qualified and entered into bond in the sum of five hundred pounds with William L?. Relfe and William Carter as security.
