Elsie Fay Stafford Green, age 74, resident of Whiteville and wife of Jack Green, departed this life Morning morning, August 31, 2015 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Green will be conducted at 2 P.M. Friday, September 4, 2015 at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Greenfield with Bro. Mark Abbott officiating. Interment will follow in the Pilgrim Rest Cemetery in Greenfield. A visitation for Mrs. Green will be from 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday, September 3, 2015 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel in Somerville.
Mrs. Green was born July 8, 1941 in Milan, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jiles Stafford and Mary Rochelle Stafford. She received her education in the Coloma, Michigan School System and was married to Jack Green, who survives. Mrs. Green was a dedicated owner of Pyramid Machine, Inc. in Whiteville before her retirement. She was of the Missionary Baptist faith and enjoyed her doll collection, working with flowers and gardening.
In addition to her husband of 48 years, Mrs. Green is survived by her son, David Johnson of Whiteville; her sister, Grethel Herron of Somerville; her aunt, Mildred Griffin of Memphis; nieces, Pat Herron of Somerville, Wanda Herron of Somerville; and her nephew, Dan Herron and his wife, Mary of Somerville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Billy F. Stafford and Phillip L. Stafford.
Pallbearers will be family members and friends and the family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Department 142, Memphis, TN 38148.
