Headline: EX-RESIDENT OF MISHAWAKA DIES IN CRASH
Leo L. Stafford, 63, of Linton, Ind., formerly of Mishawaka, was killed and his wife, Barbara Deane Stafford, was injured critically in a two-car, head-on crash about 4:15 p.m. Monay.
The accident occurred on Indiana 54, about a mile east of LInton, according to Indiana State Police in Bloomington. Police said Stafford was driving east on Indian 54 when a westbound behicle attempting to pass another vehicle collided with Stafford's car. Mrs. Stafford was listed in critical condition today in Terre Haute Union Hospital, where Mr. Stafford was pronounced dead on arrival.
Mr. Stafford was employed by the State Highway Department. He had work
ed at the Dodge Division of Reliance Electric for 30 eyars. He was born Feb. 11, 1924, in Mishawaka, and had lived in the area until 1975, when he moved to Linton. On May 21, 1974, in Linton, he married Barbara Deane Risher.
Also surviving area daughter Connie Garrabrant of Osceola; two sons, Dennis of South Bend and Robert of Mishawaka; a step-daughter, Honey Lou Poole of Indianapolis; a stepson, Jack Perry of Linton; six grandchildren; four sisters, Louise Praklet of Mishawaka, Marie DeWitte of Edwardsburg, Nita Abraham of South Bend, and Wanda Hayden of Winter Garden, Fla; and two brothers, A.D. of Mishawaka, and Dr. John W. of Tampa, Fla.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Anderson & Poidexter Memory Chapel, Linton, where friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Linton.

Friends may call until 9 p.m. today at teh funeral home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Linton. Among the survivors are three daughters, Renee Koontzand Angela K. Stafford-Tirotta, both of Mishawaka, and Cynthia Fenimore of South Bend; two sons, Leo Jr. and Timothy H.O., both of Mishawaka, and six grandchildren.
