  James Moon was the son of Joseph Josiah and Anna (nee Button) Moon, born 17 Nov 1780 in Boston Ma. In 1803 he married Abigail Stafford in Sherburne NY, the had 4 son's prior to him leaving for the war of 1812. He was a soldier in 1812; a Cooper by trade. They lived in Sheridan and later in Hamlet. Tombstones for James and Abigail were found in Hamlet in 1927.In 1814 they had a daughter and then 2 more sons until they had another daughter and then the last was a son, with a final family of 9 children. James,Joseph,Daniel,Andrew,Thankful,Oliver,Simon,Sally,Ozias.
