Robert W. Stafford was born in Lee County, Virginia. Zorababel is on the 1799 and 1800 tax lists of Lee Co., Va. Zorababel is on a land record in Lee County, VA 8 Sept. 1801 buying from James Fitzgerald.

Land record Deed Bk. D pg 30 Carroll County, Tennessee, states that Robert Stafford on 10 Sept. 1836 was residing in Cumberland County, Kentucky and was selling 50 A in Carroll County, Tennessee to James Rummage of Carroll Co.
Robert's brother, James Stafford, was also in Cumberland Co., Kentucky -- in ca. 1820 census.

Robert C. Stafford, son of Robert W. Stafford, stated that he was born in Fentress County, Tennessee.(Source Tod Stafford in 1999 citing obituary.)
Robert " Uncle Robin" Stafford's family was not on the 1850 Census in TN nor MO. Fentress County, 1840 Census and an old letter mention him as late as 1855. He was called Robin Stafford in Fentress Co. TN. He moved from Fentress County and seems to have disappeared from the rolls. His wife's name is not known nor any of his childrens names (a census listing follows: 1. female b. 1825/1830 in Fentress Co. TN 2. female b. 1825/1830
in Fentress Co. TN 3. male b. 1930/1835 in Fentress Co. TN 4. female b. 1830/1835 in Fentress Co. TN 5. male b. 1835/1840 in Fentress Co. TN 6. male b. 1835/1840 in Fentress Co. TN 7. male b. 1835/1840 in Fentress Co. TN 8. female b. 1835/1840 in Fentress Co. TN and there may have been more children.

Blair to Robin Stafford. This indenture made and entered into between Samuel Blair of the County of Fentress, and State of Tennessee, of the one part, and Robin Stafford of the County and State aforesaid of the other part; Witnesseth, That for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred dollars by the said Robin Stafford in hand paid, the receipt of which is here by acknowledged, he the said Samuel Blair hath bargained and sold and by this indenture doth bargain sell and convey to the said Robin Stafford, his heirs and assigns, a certain tract or parcel of land situated and being in the County of Fentress aferesaid, granted by the state of Kentucky to the said Samuel Blair by Grant No. 54, dated the 10th of
November, 1825 for 160 acres being between Walker's line and latitude 36 30 and bounded as follows, to - wit: Beginning at a white oak, hickory and double sugar tree, Andrew Hisaw's corner, running thence with his line north twenty-five feet west one hundred and one poles to a stake, thence with his line south sixty five west five poles to two dogwoods one double,
thence with Moses Poor's line north one hundred and eight poles to a poplar and hickory, thence with James Campbell's line east one hundred and thirty six poles to a sugar tree two beeches and a white walnut, thence south 56 poles to an ash and two white oaks, thence east 20 poles to an elm and sugar tree, thence south sixty five poles to an elm and ash,
thence west thirty poles to a stake, thence south one hundred and three poles to a stake, thence west seventy six poles to a stake, thence north twenty six poles to the beginning. The said Samuel Blair is to have the land till his death, and if his wife Nancy Blair sould outlive the said Samuel Blair, she is to have the south one third to be laid offf to run off so as to include the dwelling house leaving the orchard during her life. If she should outlive the said Samuel Blair she is to have the south one third to be laid off to run so as to include the dwelling house, leaving the orchard, during her life. I the said Samuel Blair have
hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 8th day of December, 1836.
