• Notes

  He entered the Confederate Service at Houston, Texas in April 1861 as Company Captain in the 2nd Texas Mounted Rifles and was promoted to Major of Calvary May 1861. Served until the end of the war. Major Stafford was a mason of high degree and also past master of the Independant Order of Odd Fellows.
