- Mrs. Marjorie L. Wood of 610 North Main Street, widow of V.L. Wood, who had been partner in the Wood and Stone jewelry store, died late Wednesday afternoon after a long illness at the Rochester General Hoapital in Rochester, PA. She is survived by a son, Wallace S. Wood, of Eastdale, [Eastville] and four grandsons, Fred E. Wood of Monaca; Vernon L. Wood of Beaver Falls; Ray F., of Eastdale, [Eastville] and John R., of Meadville; and by two sisters, Mrs. E.E. Stebbins of Akron, Ohio, and Miss Edna M. Stafford of Meadville.
Friends may call at the Roofner Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Christ Episcopal Church, interment to follow at the Saegertown Cemetery.
Per an interview with Raymond F. and Alice Hinzman Wood, on 5 Apr 1999:
Margery Stafford:
-She was about 5' 7" tall, a bout 150 pounds, with brown hair. -She was stone deaf and could read lips, However, there was a family saying, "Don't say anything behind her back, she will hear it".
After Vernon's death, she rented rooms to college students, since the house was next to Allegheny College. -Raymond Wood remembers that she was a very good cook and especially her fruit cakes.
