  Viola Grace STAFFORD 1868-1916 m. Virgil Alfred Edward BROWN 29 Nov 1889 in Hot Springs, Fall River, SD. According to pp 21-22 of Sunshine & Sagebrush, A History of Fall River, SD. Viola left MI to marry her girlhood sweetheart after Virgil moved there to become a cowboy. A very interesting story (I have a copy I can send you-it talks about Viola's singing ability, discontent with life in the wilderness, the loss of three babies and her fear of Indian wars). I also have their marriage certificate. She left Virgil after trying, but being unable to adjust to the hardships of the West. Virgil died 28 Apr 1941 (ironically, in Chicago).
