Benjamin Franklin Stafford was the third child born unto William and Ruhamah Kiphart Stafford, on July 8th, 1874. The family then lived near Centerton. He passed away in the Memorial hospital Jan. 25, 1946, at the age of 71 years, 6 months and 17 days. He had been in the hospital 2 weeks, 6 days. He is the last of his family to die.
May 8, 1897, he and Violena Losh were united in marriage; to this union were born 2 daughters and 2 sons, the daughters died in infancy. Lincoln and family live in Lewisville, Paul and family near Brooklyn, survive him, with the widow. He leaves 5 grandsons, two of which were in World War II and have just been recently discharged. Howard and Frank Stafford; on granddaughter and three great-grandsons.
He has lived in Morgan Co. his entire life, near Centerton and in Brooklyn. He was one of the best posted citizens of Morgan Co. and was blest with a remarkable memory-- not only of happenings, marriages, deaths, contracts, etc., but he could give you the exact date of such. A citizen once said to me-- "he is a walking encyclopedia." His word settled many arguments that arose among not only the family, but outsiders as well.
One day in Mr. Ratcliff's store, the writer was talking with him about the war and the chaotic world and he said to me, "Mrs. Gruelle, I am not a professed Christian, but I don't believe this old world will ever be at peace, that is nations at peace with each other, until God's son comes again and claims the devil. I honestly believe that that son will appear again and come back where he left. The Bible says He will come and there will never be a peace until then."
