STAFFORD FUNERAL TO BE HELD HERE - Mrs. SARAH STAFFORD Passed Away at Home Of Daughter - Services Will be Held at the Home of Daughter, Mrs. Emma CORNTHAWITE, Monday Afternoon
Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Stafford, widow of the Solomon STAFFORD, who passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. A. LIPKEY, of Bluffton, Indiana, will be held at the home of Mrs. Stafford's daughter, Mrs. Emma CORNTHWAITE, 1101 East Ohio street, this city. The services will be held this afternoon at two o'clock. Rev. E. W. Dunlavy will officate.
Sarah AMOS STAFFORD was born in Clinton County on December 20, 1838, being 82 years of age at the time of her death. In 1864, she was united in marriage to Solomon STAFFORD, who preceded her in death a short time ago.
Two daughter, Mrs. W. A. LIPKEY, of Bluffton, and Mrs. Emma CORNTHWAITE, of this city; and two grandchildren, Clarence CORNTHWAITE, of Decatur, and Mrs. John P. KANE, of Washington, D. C., survive. Two brothers, G. W. AMOS of Columbus City, and Joseph AMOS, of Kingman, Kas.; two sisters, Mrs. Priscilla COOPER, of this city and Mrs. J. R. COOPER, of Kempton, are also left to mourn her death.
Mrs. Stafford was an active member of the Methodist Episcopal Church and until the time of her illness was a faithful attendant.
In the death of Mrs. Stafford, Clinton county has lost one of its oldest and most respected residents and her passing will cast a shadow of sorrow over the entire community.
(Note: Book C 4, Page 228 March 26, 1863 Solomon W. Stafford and Sarah A. Amos marriage is recorded. The death certificate for Solomon W. Stafford contains the following information: Solomon is the son of Charles Stafford who was born in Virginia and Sallie McDaniel who was born in Indiana. Solomon was born November 14, 1841 and who died June 24, 1920, Frankfort, Indiana. Mr. Boulden was attending physician with Goodwin Brothers Funeral Home in charge. No cemetery is listed.)
