  The Cuba (KS) Tribune - 8 Mar 1934 WILLIAM STAFFORD William Stafford, of Republic City, father of T. E. Stafford of Cuba died early Monday morning at the home of his daughter in Republic City. William Stafford was born November 6th, 1852 near Valparaiso, Indiana, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clara Boylan, March 5, 1934, at the age of 81 years, three months and 29 days. He grew to manhood in Indiana and came to Kansas with his mother and brothers and sister in 1871. William Stafford was united in marriage to Clara Everts September 28, 1873, and to this union were born five children; two of whom preceded him in death. Surviving, are: one son, Thomas Edward Stafford of Cuba, Kansas; two daughters, Mrs. Evert Holmes of near Republic and Mrs. Carl Boylan of Hardy, Nebraska; sixteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Lawson Stafford of Hardy, Nebraska and a host of more distant relatives and friends. Mr. Stafford was converted in a meeting at the Dry Lake Schoolhouse in the fall of 1890 and soon after joined the Methodist church and has lived a consistent Christian life since that time. He was a wise, kind and loving father, a true and affectionate husband and a kind and considerate neighbor. Census: Listed as a farmer with wife and son. Parents born in OH.
