BELLE NELSON
Belle Stafford Nelson was born August 7, 1885 in Washington Twonship, and died November 1. 1975 at the Long Term Nursing Home in Belleville. She was 90 years, two months, 25 days.
Mrs. Nelson was the last of nine children of Samuel and Rozella Stafford. She was a life long resident of Republic County. After attending Washington School she entered Kansas Wesleyan College in Salina where she studied music for three years. Later she taught school and gave music lessons.
On March 19, 1911, Belle Stafford was united in marriage to Amil O. Nelson at the home of her parents. The couple lived on their farm near Republic until 1955 when they retired to Belleville.
She was a member of the Belleville First United Methodist Church and the Priscilla Club.
Surviving are her husband Amil of the home, son Clemons, Los Angeles, Calif., daughter Mrs. Tom McConwell of Kansas City, four grandchildren, Edward McConwell. Mrs. Tom Shawyer and Stephen and Terri Nelson, and five great-grandchildren.
Services were held at the First United Methodist Church on Monday, November 3, 1975, with burial at the Washington cemetery conducted by Reverend Lloyd Kurtz.
