Samuel Harold Stafford
Samuel Harold Stafford, son of Samuel and Rose Stafford, was born May 31, 1888 at Republic, Kan., and passed away June 15, 1955, in Kansas City, Mo. He was 67 years old.
He attended the schools of Republic county and grew to manhood in his home community.
On September 31, 1908, he was married Florence Sarah Leeding, and to them, six children were born. He retired from the farm and moved to Scandia in January of 1946.
He had united with the Methodist church as a young man, and after a renewing religious awakening recently, he made plans to unite with the Methodist church in Belleville.
Preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Betty (sic), two brothers, Earl and Orville, and two sisters, Maude and Zella, he is survived by his wife, Florence; one son, Dale of Scandia; four daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Reed of Kansas City, Mol, Mrs. Rosalyn Splichal of Belleville, Mrs. Ruby McShane of Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., Mrs. Gwendolyn Walter of Belleville; and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. James Gray June 17 at the First Methodist church in Belleville. Interment was in the Washington Cemetery near Republic.
