AMIL O. NELSON
Amil O. Nelson, son of Gus and Edla Swenson Nelson, was born at Norway, Kansas on December 30, 1886 and passed away at the Heartland Care Center in Belleville, Kansas on December 2, 1986 at the age of 99 years, 11 months and 2 days.
Amil received his education in the schools of Republic County. He was united in marriage to Belle Stafford in March of 1911 and to this union two children were born, Clemons L. and Leona.
Amil was engaged in farming for many years north of Republic, Kansas. Amil and his wife Belle retired in 1958 and moved to Belleville, Kansas. Amil was able to live in his own home after Mrs. Nelson passed away in 1975 for several years. He was a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Belleville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gus and Edla nelson, his wife Belle in 1975, three sisters, and two brothers.
He is survived by one son, Clemons Nelson and his wife Margaret of Hidden Hills, California; one daughter Mrs. Leona Edington, Seattle, Washington; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral service was held at the First United Methodist Church, Belleville, at 10:00 am on Friday, December 5, 1986 conducted by the Reverend James Graves. Mrs. James Graves was organist with Steve Scofield serving as soloist.
Casket bearers were LaVon Bowersox, Gene Heyka, Kenneth Simms, Charles Stafford, Dale Stafford, and Ralph Walter.
Interment was made in Washington Cemetery, Northwest of Belleville.
Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
