- Elexius was 8 years old on the 1850 census.
There was an "E. Stafford" who served KY in the Union Army, 39th, who enlisted at Peach Orchard, KY on 8/22/62 (same enlistment place and same Regiment as Fleming and John Ferrell Stafford), but that E. Stafford didn't survive the war. He died March 19, 1865, at Ashland, KY. Could that be Elexius? I couldn't find any record of Elexius after the war.
The only other references I've seen to an E. Stafford were in the book The Kentucky Land Grants, by Willard Rouse Jillson, Genealogical Publishing Co., Inc., Baltimore, 1971 Part 2, Grants in County Court Orders:
E Stafford, 100 acres, bk 60, pg 439, 4-20-1860, Pike Co, Peter Fk Blackberry Cr
E Stafford, 150 acres, bk 60, pg 440, 6-27-1860, Pike Co, Peter Fk Blackberry Cr
I think these land grants must be to Elexius because 1) there's a grant to his father Fleming in 1844 for 50 acres located also on Blackberry Creek and 2) I don't know of another Stafford with a first initial "E" who would have been old enough in 1860 to receive a land grant.
