Avery M. Stafford, of 120 Valleydale Dr., Mount Airy, NC, passed away Monday, November 14, at home. He was born in Peru, NY, and lived in Syracuse before moving to Mt. Airy. Avery was a partner with his father and brother in the 600- acre Staffordshire farm. He helped develop a herd of purebred Holsteins into an internationally recognized herd. He was a classifier for the American Holstein Assoc. for 23 years and had traveled to many foreign countries in that capacity. He was an official judge at several cattle shows. He was the father of the late Sue Ellen Stafford, who died in 1970.
Surviving are his wife, Charlotte Paro Stafford; his children, Elaine Wright of Peru, NY, Nancy Clauser of Dover, Delaware, Mark Stafford of Columbus, Ohio; six grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Carole Wood, and brother-in-law, Donald Wood, of Mt. Airy; sister-in-law, Muriel Stafford, of Keeseville, NY; several nieces and nephews.
