  Marlin Columbus "Lum" Stafford was born on May 20, 1879 in Tennessee, the son of John "Robertson" Stafford (ca 1825– ) and Elizabeth (Roberts) Stafford (ca 1835– ). Lum was married on July 20, 1911 in Dyer County to Cora Craig (19 Feb 1891–Jul 1952), who was born in Pulaski County and was the daughter of John H Craig and Lucy V (Doss) Craig. was heading a household that included her children Robert (divorced and age 25) and Mary G (single and age 17), along with Cora's brother Luther L Craig (40 and single) and a 46-year-old, divorced cousin Hattie L Bell.} A retired farmer living at 306 8th Avenue South in Nashville, Lum was 80 years old and listed as a widower when he died of prostate cancer on May 13, 1960 at Nashville General Hospital. Burial was three days later in Spring Hill Cemetery, Nashville. Much of the above is from his Death Certificate.
