She was the youngest of the Stafford children. Her sisters Jessie and Edna had come several years earlier. Alice attended her first few years of school at the old Enrose School, northwest of Caldwell. When she was in the fifth grade her father bought her a driving horse and a two-wheeled cart and she drove into Caldwell and attended Lincoln School through the eighth grade. Alice graduated from Boise High School and attended Link´s Business College where she obtained the basis for her life´s work. In 1935 Glenn Bartlett entered Alice´s life through a blind date and it was love at first sight! They were married on Nov. 27, 1935. Glenn and Alice both worked at a bicycle shop on Warm Springs Ave. in Boise--"Bicycle Built for Two." In 1940 Glenn and Alice took employment on road construction and their jobs took them to Colorado and, in 1942, they moved back to Idaho. Glenn and Alice worked with the Morrison-Knudsen Co. for approximately 24-1/2 years, and during this time Alice worked in the secretarial position. After she left her job there she went to work for Idaho Concrete, retiring in 1980. Alice enjoyed her jobs while she was employed. She liked the people she worked with. She enjoyed working in her yard, knitting, crocheting, her dogs and having coffee with her neighbors.
