OCEANA - Michael Stafford, 44, passed away Saturday, Nov. 21, 2004.
Born July 2, 1960, in Guam, he was the son of the late Jackie Lee Stafford (1934-Deceased) and Marie Mitchell-Stafford (1940-Deceased).
Mr. Stafford served in the U.S. Army for 10 years and worked as a heavy equipment operator.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Donna M. Stafford (Deceased) and a brother, Ralph E. Stafford (Deceased).
Those left to cherish his memory are his sister, Susan Stafford of Waldorf, N.C.; several aunts, uncles, and cousins and a host of friends.
Michael Stafford was killed in an apparent homicide. Sidney Carl Goodwin, 29, of Oceana, was charged with murder in connection with the death of 44-year old Michael Stafford, also of Oceana, at Pure Country Lounge. The two apparently got into a barroom altercation. It had previously been thought Stafford struck his head while falling, resulting in death. Goodwin of Kopperston was indicted Monday by the Wyoming County Grand Jury for second degree murder in connection with the death of 44-year-old Michael Stafford, according to Prosecutor G. Todd Houck.
