- At the time of Clara's marriage, she lived at 54 Edward St., only a fe w doors down from 78 Edward St., James' house. Clara was listed as a c otton reeler on their marriage certificate. Clara's cemetery record is f ound on page 314, item number 1560 of the Westville Cemetery records fo und at the Taunton City Hall. The record indicates that she was born i n England, and died at age 72 years, 0 months,
6 days. She died at home on October 5, 1946. Grave info. is CV-28 ind icating cement vault 28 inches wide. She was buried on October 8, 1946 i n lot # 372. She died of "cardiac exhaustion". Her father is listed as J ohn Holt and mother Maria Greenwood of England.
In year 2000, Ashley and I researched in England again and found the fo llowing information. We are not sure if any are of the same line as Cl ara but, we made notes of the information.
Birth Records in the Oldham area under the Parish of St. John, not sure a t all if they are related to Clara.

Sent to me by Dad after he researched Clara's obituary:
Now let me type out Grandma's orbituary.
Mrs. Clara Stafford, wife of James Stafford, 1 Burt Street, died this m orning at her home in her 74th year following an illness
of six months. Mrs. Stafford, who resided in Taunton for the past 43 y ears (1946 minus 1903 she came= 43 years) was born in Oldham,
England, the daughter of the late John and Maria (Greenwood) Holt. She w as a member of the St. Paul's Church in North Dighton, Ma.
In addition to her husband, she leaves one daughter, Mrs. Hilda Hayes, N o. Dighton; 3 sons, Harry, Frank and Lawrence
Stafford all of this city; and two sisters, Mrs. Annie Ogden of St. Cat harines, Canada (just west of Buffalo) and Miss Emily Holt of Ontario, C anada (not sure of the town). These are not the sisters of James but, o f my grandmother, Clara. Gramp had three sisters older than he Lizzy ( probably Elizabeth Stafford) 1865, Edith 1870, Clara 1874. Where his s isters Edith and Clara went, or came to this hemisphere U.S. or Canada, I d on't know. Dear 'Ol Dad in Taunton.

The following information is being inputed now but, the first part came f rom a note sent to me by Dad with some research he did and some memorie s he has. Clara's sisters were named Annie (Holt) Ogden and Emily Hol t (Clara's maiden name). Annie and Emily both ended up living in Cana da, whether they went there direct or came to the U.S. first and then m oved up is unknown at this point. Annie lived in Saint Catharines, Can ada while Emily is known to have lived in somewhere in Ontario, Canada. T he following obituary of Clara is the research Dad found in checking th e newspapers of Taunton from the time when she died:
Clara Stafford
Mrs. Clara Stafford, wife of James Stafford, 1 Burt Street, died this m orning at her home in her 74th year following an illness of six months. M rs. Stafford, who resided in Taunton for the past 43 years (1946 minus 1 904) was born in Oldham, England, the daughter of the late John and Mar ia (Greenwood) Holt. She was a member of the St. Paul's Church in Nort h Dighton, MA. In addition to her husband, she leaves one daughter, Mr s Hilda Hayes, No. Dighton, 3 sons Harry, Frank and Lawrence Stafford, a ll of this city (Taunton) and two sisters, Mrs Annie Ogden of St Cather ines, Canada and Miss Emily Holt of Ontario, Canada. My guess is Emily w as in the St. Catharines area also but, there is no proof of this it is j ust an educated guess.
An additional note from my Dad at the same time as above, These sister s mentioned above were not of James but of his grandmother, Clara. Gra mp (meaning James) had three sisters older than he, Lizzy (probably Eli zabeth) 1856, Edith 1870 and Clara 1874. Where the sisters Edith and C lara went, or came to this hemisphere -- U.S. or Canada, I don't know. L izzy did come to this country and all indications are that she came her e before James her father because she was there to meet and take James t o Fall River when he got off the boat in Boston in the record.

This Poem written by Clara Stafford
Remember me and keep in view
Those pleasant hours I spent with you
Remember me and keep in heart
The best of friends must always part
And when we part and bid adieu
My thoughts may always rest with you
Tho near or far where'r you may be
For friendship sake, remember me
Clara loved to make bread.
Eddy Holt lived here in the US with Clara and James, he had married in E ngland and left and immigrated to the U.S. and never brought wife and s on. James and Clara had the first household in the area to have a TV, e veryone would go to their house to see the TV.
The family all drank including Clara?heavy drinking. Clara was very sho rt, under five feet. James was a big singer in church and he was treas urer for the Episcopalian church next to Lincoln village in Dighton. T hey went to church every week, my Dad use to go to their house for Chri stmas eve every year. They had a back house and lived in the house I li ved in at the end of Williams St. (no longer there) --- Clara was very a h eavy woman and was described by Dad as just as round as she was high. T he household included James, Clara, their son Frank, and Eddy (Clara's y ounger brother). They never saved money and therefore always had the l atest and best of everything?cars, TV etc. They played a lot of horsesh oes. Frank bought a boat and Dad can remember going down to Fall River i n the boat and waiting for the Priscilla to leave to go to New York and t hey would all wave and then head back towards Dighton in the boat.
Lizzie married a William Whitehead and they lived in Fall River at that t ime that James came to the country. If you look closely at the right h and side of James' port of entry record, it shows that Wm Stafford but S tafford had been crossed out and his wife's name, James' sister Lizzie w as added with their address in Fall River which appears to be either 11 6 or perhaps 46 Liberty St, Fall River and then the name of Whitehead w as added. So it was Lizzie that must have convinced James to bring fam ily over and also was her and her husband that came on behalf of James t o pick him up at the boat.
