Pearl S. Potwin
Mrs. Pearl S. Potwin, 70, of Ellington, died at 7:55 p.m. Wednesday (March 11, 1970) in WCA Hospital. She was the wife of Gordon Potwin.
Born in Ellington March 25, 1899, she was the daughter of MacClellan and Ethel Wakefield Stafford.
She was a Gold Star Mother of World War II. Her son, Roger M. Potwin, was killed in Germany July 20, 1944.
Mrs. Potwin was a charter member of Roger Potwin Post, American Legion Auxiliary, Ellington; Ellington Grange; Ellington Garden Club and the Randolph Auxiliary of the Veterans of World War I. She had been active in the work of the American Cancer Society.
Besides her husband she is survived by two sons, Wayne Potwin, Ellington; and Calvin Potwin, East Aurora; two daughters, Mrs. Harold Brumm, Neward, N.Y.; and Mrs. George Lindquist, Kennedy; one brother, Maxwell Stafford, Ellington; 14 grandchildren; one niece and two nephews. A sister, Mrs. Fay Shures, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Falconer Funeral Home. The Rev. John Olsen, of the Ellington Congregational Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Valley View Cemetery, Ellington.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
