- John Stafford Dies At Lyons Home
Funeral services for John Stafford, eighty-three, prominent and respected farmer of Lyons, who died at his home at Lyons late Sunday night, were held yesterday afternoon from the Prairie Chapel Church. Burial was in the Prairie Chapel Cemetery. The deceased, who was born May 5, 1852, was the son of Presley and Sarah (Mowery) Stafford. He received his early schooling in the Lyons community and was one of the township's oldest residents. On November 4, 1880, he was married to Miss Allie Shake, daughter of John and Elizabeth Shake. Surviving is the widow, one son, Roscoe M. Stafford, of Lyons, and three granddaughters. "Uncle John" as he was commonly known in that community, had been in failing health for more than a year, and his death was caused by complications of diseases.
