Dora Belle Stafford was born in the Wittenburg area of Alexander County, NC. Her father was Christy Leroy Stafford and her mother was Harriet Dee Stafford Stafford. She married Edward Wichard Hollifield. She, her husband and her father all moved to Troutman, Iredell, NC. She and Ed had seven children: Hattie Emo Hollifield Elliott, James Fred Hollifield, Cecil Leroy Hollifield, Rubie Elmira Hollifield Reavis Beaver, Ray Livone Hollifield, Mildred Hollifield (who died in infancy), and Paul Allen Hollifield. Dora died two days after Paul's birth of peritonitis.
