ALEXANDRIA — Jennie V. (Stafford) Eden, 85, of Alexandria, died July 26 at her son Bobby Lee's residence after an extended illness.
She was born Oct. 26, 1922, in Hartsville, Tenn., to Arch Allen Stafford and Essie Mae (Parker) Stafford.
She resided in Alexandria from 1941 to 1993 moving to Tennessee and then returned to Alexandria in 2001.
Jenny retired from Guide Lamp, formerly of Anderson, in 1983 after 30 years. She was a member of UAW Local 663. She was a longtime member of the Missionary Baptist Church of Alexandria.
Jennie enjoyed quilting, needlepoint and embroidery. She loved to share her handiwork with her family and friends, one year sewing 13 quilts as Christmas gifts. She was also known for her Southern cooking, especially her fried chicken and fried fruit pies.
Survivors include her daughter, Frankie Eden of Knoxville, Tenn.; two sons, Bobby Lee (Sharon) Eden and Ronnie (Elizabeth) Eden, all of Alexandria; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years, Frank Eden, who died Aug. 2, 2000; and six brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Noffze Funeral Home, 501 N. Harrison St., Alexandria, with Rev. Raymond Garrett of Alexandria Missionary Baptist Church officiating.
