  Mary (affectionately known as Mamie) moved with her parents from Davie County, NC to Maryland circa 1915 and later to Petersburg, VA where she owned and operated a beauty salon until she retired in the mid 1950's. She, having never married, bought a large home in Walnut Hill, a suburb of Petersburg. Her mother, Nancy, and father, Leo, lived there with her until their deaths.
