• Notes

  Joseph, who served and was wounded in France during World War I, returned to his parents' home place in Davie County, NC after the war ended. He remainded on the home place and farmed the land which, after the death of his father, Leo W. Stafford, was deeded to him by his brothers and sisters. The home place and surrounding land was sold to RJR Tobacco Company by his wife after Joseph's death.
