WAKEFIELD, CHARLES HARRY
GREENSBORO -- Mr. Charles Harry Wakefield, 81,, died Thursday, Aug. 11, 20 05, at Moses Cone Hospital.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Westminster Gardens C emetery with the Rev. Stephen Haines and the Rev. Carol Williams-Gilbert o fficiating.
Born in Guilford County to Carl E. Wakefield Sr., and Cora Phipps Wakefiel d, he was a graduate of Guilford High School and an Army veteran of Wor ld War II. He was owner/operator of Wakefield Exxon and after retirement w orked for Guilford Garden Center. He attended Guilford College United Meth odist Church.
Mr. Wakefield was preceded in death by his first wife Helen Gamble Wakefie ld and brother Hugh Wakefield.
Survivors include his wife Allene Hunter Wakefield of the home; son Chu ck Wakefield of Charleston, S.C.; stepdaughters, Marcia Hunter, Joyce Caus ey, Michelle Ingram and Gail Varkes; sister Anne Alred; brother Jack Wakef ield; grandchildren, Jake and Emily Wakefield of Columbia, S.C.; and six s tep grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Forbis & Dick Gu ilford Chapel.
