A no te on the fly leaf reads: "This Bible was presented to Sarah Ann Untha nk by James B. Unthank 1890. Given by Alice E. Unthank to Reba Alice Untha nk Shrieves 1929." Note in "Family Record" section: "The Unthank family ca me to America about 1780 from Yorkshire England to Bucks County, Pennsylva nia. Thence to Guilford County, N.C., thence to Richmond (or Wayne Count y) Indiana. The name Unthank means 'House by a pool' or 'on the tank.'"
