My five son s: Eleazer, Jacob, Moses, Thompson and Jon, 290 acres land where I now liv e. Wife, Rachel, my dwelling house and she live on plantation liftim e. My four daughters: Martha , Mary, Leah, and Rachel (with above named s ons), equal shares remaining estate. Executors: Wife, Rachel and sons Ele azer and Moses. Witnesses: John SHIELD and John SELL, Jurat. Signed: Th ompson SMITH. NOTES: Is this John SELL the same person (Jonathan Sell) that resided in GA th en removed to Stokes Co., NC? Is this Thompson Smith related to Capt. John Smith that was born in NC a nd removed to GA in 1773 and fought in the American Revolution, Georgia Ri flemen? Smith, John, Captain, born in North Carolina, came to Georgia in 1773, w as in the American Revolution, Georgia Rifleman. He died January 1795 in W ilkes County, married in North Carolina. Applied for the ceded lands in Wi lkes County, bringing with him wife and two children. His estate records p rovide heir’s receipts. Children: 1. Alexander Smith. 2. Mary (Polly) Smith married James Wooten, son of Thomas Wooten. 3. Mildred Smith married Thomas Wooten, Jr., son of Thomas Wooten, Sr. a nd wife, Tabitha (Bradford) Crowell. 4. Nancy Smith married Lemuel Wooten, son of Thomas Wooten. 5. Elizabeth Smith. 6. Martha Smith born 15 November 1770 married John Walker. 7. Franky Smith married Harris Coleman, died 1816. 8.
