- At this stage, we can only list those individuals that we have knowledge o f, who comprised the family of Matthias and his wife. it is best to list a ll the documentation we have that pertains to known members of Matthias' f amily. Jessie Hunter has furnished a wealth of information and documentati on uncovered by her intensive research and all of us have to be gratef ul to her for her efforts, and we are listing it as follows:

Reel 292, p. 525 - Grant of 325 acres in Frederick County to John Swai n, 1 June 1751.
Reel 295, p. 143 - No. 1766 - Grant of 159 acres in Frederick County to Ma thias Swim, 20 Aug 1766 (on Sleepy Creek).
O. 1767-1770 - Fairfax - Reel 296, p. 336. Grant of 200 acres in Frederi ck County to Matthias Swame 23 Nov 1770. Assignee of Elias Garret. This la nd was given to Matthias IIId in 1803.
S. 1780-1788 - Fairfax - Reel 298, p. 34 - Grant of 324 acres in Berkel ey County to Matthias Swaim, Jr., 16 May 1780.
S. 1780-1788 - Fairfax - Reel 298, p. 112 - Grant of 346 acres in Berkel ey County to Matthias Swaim, Sr., 25 Sept 1780. (This was on Sleepy Creek. )
S. 1780-1788 - Fairfax - Reel 298, p. 356-360. Grants of 346 and 056 acr es in Berkeley County to Matthias Swaim, Richard Morris and John Overto n, March 1788, On the drains of Sleepy Creek. (Note: It refers to a "Matth ias Swaim," no distinction being made as to a "Sr." or "Jr.")

U. 1789-1790 - Reel 330, pg 201-202. Grant of 315 acrews in Frederick Coun ty to Mathias Swym, Jr., 8 Sept. 1789.
X. 1795-1797 - Reel 303, p. 634-635. Grant of 100 acres in Berkeley Coun ty to Matthias Swim, the third, 29 Dec.
A. No. 2, 1805-1812 - Reel 306, p. 235-237. Grants of 100 and 200 acr es in Berkeley County to Matthias Swim, Jr. and Sr., 30 Mar 1809
We also have the Certificate, which is shown in the original text, No. 21 8, dated 26 Oct 1780, issued to Lazarus, Matthias, R. and Matthias, Jr. Sw aim for the wheat during the Revolutionary War, which stated they were ent itled to receive the sum of one hundred twenty two pounds and ten shillin gs from the State of Virginia.
