JAMESTOWN - Edward Bowman "Bow" Stafford, 79, of 701 Guilford Road, died July 23, 1997, at High Point Regional Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Jamestown United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jim Trollinger. Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends after the service, in the Fellowship Hall of the church.
Mr. Stafford was born Sept. 26, 1917, in Guilford County, the son of Samuel Hanes and Martha Bowman Stafford. He attended Guilford College and started the Bow Stafford Realtors in February of 1955. He was past president of the Jamestown Rotary Club and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He served in the U.S. Navy and Merchant Marines. He was a member of the Jamestown United Methodist Church and the Austin Fortney Sunday School Class. He was past president of the High Point Board of Realtors. He was voted the 1974 Realtor of the Year, chaplain of the N.C. Board of Realtors and was a director of Wachovia Bank. On July 24, 1949, he married the former Sarah King, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Martha Stafford Wolfe of 103 Lee Street; two sons, Edward B. Stafford Jr. of 2212 Guilford College Road, and Sam Stafford of Nashville, Tenn.; one sister, Mrs. Carrie Stafford Williams of Guilford College; and seven grandchildren.
