Wilbur Griffin
Funeral services for Wilbur Lee Griffin, 74 of Warsaw, who di ed Wednesday
(Aug. 4 , 1976) at 11 p.m. in Keokuk Area Hospital East in Keo kuk, Iowa, will
be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Lamporte Funeral Home in Warsa w. Rev. Peter
Yokofujita and Rev. Emanuel Varner will officiate. Burial wi ll be in Oakland
Cemetery in Warsaw.
A lifelong resident of the Warsaw area, Mr. Griffin was bo rn in Marcelline Ill.,
on Mar 6, 1902, the son of William and Anna Stafford Griffin.
He was married to Anna Schmitt in Carthage on Oct. 9 1924. T he widow survives.
Also surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Wahneta) Buc kert of Warsaw,
Mrs. Lloyd (Priscilla) Beeler of San Francisco, Mrs. Dan (Patt y) Runge of
Warsaw and Mrs. Bud (Brenda) Avery of Warsaw; four sons, Elija h, Elisha,
Nathaniel, and Gary, all of Warsaw; 28 grandchildren, and eig ht great-grand-
children.
He was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
After his retirement from Warsaw Brewery, he operated a us ed furniture store
in Warsaw for several years. For eight years he was an alderm an in Warsaw
and for another eight years he served as City Marshall.
