Because of a double ancestry tie to Revolutionary War patriot, Casper Ever ly, William Gordon and his wife, Mamie, were 2nd cousins, once removed. M inerva Colebank, wife of Richard Johnson, was the great-granddaughter of C asper Everly, and the line would pass down through her to her descandant s, including William Gordon Johnson. William Gordon's wife, Mamie, was t he daughter of Milliard St Clair. Millard's parents were John St Clair a nd Malinda Everly. Malinda Everly was the granddaughter of Casper Everl y. So, for William Gordon and Mamie and for all of their descendants, the re will be a double relationship to other Johnson family members. One wi ll be based upon William Gordon's connection to Casper Everly through Mine rva Colebank (common to all descendants of Richard Johnson and Minerva Col ebank); the other upon Mamie St Clair's connection to Casper Everly throu gh her grandmother, Malinda Everly (or Everley).
William died at his home on Morgantown Road (route 119) at 4:30 a. m. on 28 November 1948. The informant of his death was son, W. Glenn John son. Funeral arrangements were handled by H. A. Davidson, Morgantown, WV.
