The 1920 Census shows Leland Grimes as head of household. He is single, a ge 20. Living with him: brother Ralph, age 18; sister Ina?, age 15; and s on Hugh, age 13. In the 1910 census, Leland's father, Parker Grimes w as a widower, and his youngest child was son, Ralph, age 8. Leland is sti ll in the household in 1910, as the next-to-youngest child, age 10. If t he 1920 census is correct (or partially so), it would appear most plausib le that Parker Grimes died shortly before the 1920 census, and that his re maining children were taken in by Leland. The discrepancies are that the 1 910 census did not show any children younger than Ralph and, in the 19 20 census, Hugh, age 13, cannot be a son of 20-year-old Leland. Perhaps f urther investigation will clear up what appears possibly to be a census er ror (or very strange situation).
